I am back from my assessment test. The waiting time is very very long actually. Dun understand why hospitals are so crowded everyday.
Thinking I am super late, I decided to walk up the hills to SNEC instead of taking the shuttle bus. Regretted! As I gotta go back office to submit my timesheet, I carried my laptop there and throughout the entire assessment tests. Hinder me alot! No heavy items for me ever!
1) Meetup with the counsellor
A very nice lady called Grace brought me the booklet and did a quick survey with me. She also pointed out the common complications, risks or side-effects from the operation. Very nice and professional.
2) Orbscan test
Over here, my eyes was electronically mapped in 3D. Basically just need to focus on the red dot.
3) Optometrist
The optometrist was very nice. She helps me measure my degree. And I think I have pretty bad eyesight.
Up to level three with the companion of a nurse.
4) Visual Acuity Test
More test on alphabets. Very bad. Think I am as blind as a bat. She also measured my eye pressure. WOoh. It was surprising. The nurse asked me to stare at the machine. And the jet of air suddenly shot out. And so when it come to the other eye, I tend to get frightened out but have no choice but to stare at the machine.
5) Eyes Dilation
I was given eye drops to dilate my pupils. Three times in ten minutes interval. Wah piang, it stings! But I think my eye muscle relax quite well. In no less than 20 mins, I felt the effect - Blurry vision. It's like you are having 50 degree myopia even with glasses.
6) Optometrist 2
I dun really like the optometrist. She is not as friendly. She even ask me to put on the glasses myself, unlike the previous optometrist. But she finally enlightened me. I was thinking why she keep asking me len 1 or 2 is more clear when actually without the len is better. She said is to compare the 2 lens, not to compare the 2 lens with the one I am already wearing. Ooops.
I even have to bring the file to the doctor myself. After waiting for a while, I decided to chiong down to the canteen for food. Bought two siew mais. Gosh, I am starving.
7) Consultation
Finally saw Dr Ang! Quite embarrassed because there are one or two older people sitting around the area for quite some times but I went in first. But I seriously dunno what's the sequence over there.
The visit to Dr Ang was rewarding. From time to time will talk about his credentials which will make you feel that you have approached the right person who is very confident and professional. He mentioned that my eyes have already shown some blood vessels arising from the chronic wear of contact lens. Very true, I think I started wearing lenses since Secondary 3, about 10 years.
He told me that a standard lasik will worked fine for me. I asked him about my colleague's relapse of her myopia, which alot of people thought it was due to our nature of working late and hard with the laptops. He assured that only 2 things will cause the degree to bouce back - genetic and skills of the surgeon. Everybody is like fated to get a certain degree of myopia. Say it is in Person A's gene to be 550 degrees myopic but at the point he did lasik is 500 degree. As time pass, he will develop the 50 degree myopia inevitably. But it can be corrected.
Perhaps my eye itchiness was due to allergic rhinitis or maybe chronic wear of contact lens. But he din detect any abnormalities after the series of test. So yes, I am so glad I am a suitable candidate and I have already booked my surgery when I booked the assessment. Darling said he will accompany me~ Love him for that.
8) Payment and confirmation
Back to Level One to make payment. $161.57 gone but I think it will be well-spent.
